Our Communities

More than just a workplace

Being the best place to work just isn’t good enough as far as we’re concerned. We also want to put something back into the community, and to enrich the lives of both our customers and the people who choose to work with us.

We actively support education activities partnering schools near our Leicester and Bootle offices and over 150 members of staff volunteer to visit local schools each week to help children improve their reading and numeracy skills through schemes like 'Right to read' and 'Number Partners'. Teams from across the business regularly undertake Team Challenges in the local communities rebuilding sensory gardens and play areas which benefit the local area as well as improving team building skills.

We have two Charities of the Year which are chosen by our employees and in 2005 we helped raise over £60,000 for Rainbows and Alder Hey Hospital. In total we donated £710,000 to local and national charities in 2005 helping them to continue to make a real difference. We also support our employees in their efforts to raise money for charities through our Matched Donation scheme, which matches funds raised by staff and their children. In 2005 we donated £110,000 to charities through the Matched Donation Scheme supporting over 300 events.
