I applied for the Alliance & Leicester graduate scheme for several reasons, but mainly because of the high level of flexibility it offers; graduates are actively encouraged to select their own placements to suit their interests and ambitions.
Since joining the company I have worked for both the Retail and Commercial Bank, experiencing the different environments that each area brings. I am currently supporting the commercial bank HR team on a Bootle-based change programme. The project has allowed me to take on lots of responsibility and has given me the opportunity to work more closely with the business areas.
In the short time I have been with the bank I have always felt welcome and valued. The structure of the graduate scheme often means moving teams on a regular 6 monthly basis. This can potentially be a very daunting prospect however all the teams I have worked with have been very friendly and accommodating. This attitude is reflected throughout the company by managers at all levels being supportive and approachable.
It has been a huge and very satisfying learning curve so far and I look forward to seeing more of the business in years to come.
