What’s Your Story?

I joined Alliance & Leicester initially as a commercial placement in 2004, where I worked within the Technology function. The placement provided me with a valuable insight into the company and the Technology department as a whole. I was given some great opportunities and felt like I was really able to influence the way things were done. It was therefore an easy decision to return to Alliance & Leicester on the graduate scheme once I had completed my degree.  

I spent my first six months as a graduate working for the Director of Mortgage Operations in a fast moving and sometimes pressured environment. I then returned to work in Technology where I have been given many opportunities to personally develop. Throughout my time at Alliance & Leicester I have built a strong support network, not only with the other graduates but also with many of my colleagues around the business. From the minute I joined I was overwhelmed by how friendly and approachable everybody was.

Some of the exciting opportunities I have been given whilst at Alliance & Leicester include meeting the Group Chief Executive and helping to organise a business dynamics event at a local school where myself and the other graduates ran a number of activities with the aim of improving the students’ understanding of business.
