| Brief description of the dept/area and its role within the business: |
Business Support Services is a diverse part of Alliance & Leicester that provides key services to every part of the Group and must do so with ever increasing efficiency and effectiveness. BSS comprises:Shared Service Centre; encompasses a range of activities from financial operations and controls, accounting services, and pay and people administration.Purchasing; manages external suppliers and key aspects of the internal supply chain delivering a range of purchasing and operational services.Building Services; has responsibility for the management, maintenance, and refurbishment of the Groups buildings, and for the provision of some operational services to the Group.Intranet Services; designs and manages the publishing service for the Groups internal intranet. |
| Description of the anticipated duties/tasks that the undergraduate will be required to undertake: |
The range of activities within BSS provides a fantastic opportunity for the graduate to be involved in many varies duties of both an operational management and project work nature.As a minimum the graduate will have placements in each of Shared Service Centre, Purchasing, and Building Services, with the specific tasks tailored to meet the Groups needs and the individuals’ interests and aspirations.In addition, Alliance & Leicester is currently undertaking a major change programme that will transform the organisation and the graduate is likely to be heavily involved in this programme from a BSS perspective.Finally, there will be the opportunity to experience other functions within Alliance & Leicester. |
