Any specific subject at degree level required: Graduates of any discipline with strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills will succeed if they have the desire to pursue a career in HR and undertake future CIPD study.
Any specific work experience: Experience of working in teams and to deadlines is required.
Primary location of the role: Carlton Park, Leicester
Does the undergraduate need to be mobile? Travel to other Alliance & Leicester sites / branches nationwide will be required.
Brief description of the dept/area and its role within the business: HR plays a key role in the delivery of the Groups objectives through HR Business Partners supported by specialist teams i.e. Management Development, Policy, Reward, Health & Safety, Pensions, Recruitment.The HR Business Partners work with specific management teams to support the delivery of the Groups commercial objectives and drive the people agenda across the Group.

The specialist teams within HR work with the HRBPs and the management teams within the Group to set and drive the strategy within their particular specialism.
Description of the anticipated duties/tasks that the undergraduate will be required to undertake: As a minimum the graduate will spend time in the HR Business Partner team and the Policy & Reward team.

The HRBP role is a generalist one and so the graduate will be given responsibility for a wide range of HR activities from an operational management and project based perspective.The Policy & Reward team set and update policy in line with internal requirements and external influences; provide an advisory service to managers on the details and application of Group policies and procedures; and ensure that the Groups reward strategy supports the attraction and retention of high calibre employees.  The graduate will experience the variety of tasks within this team from the drafting of policy to the operational application of key reward mechanisms e.g. bonuses.There will also be scope to experience the other specialist areas within HR and other functions within Alliance & Leicester.
