Alliance & Leicester’s Branch Network is part of one of the UK’s leading major financial services. Credit Risk Management
It is critical for us to get our risk analysis spot on. This means lending to the right people at the right time.
We are always seeking talented graduate calibre professionals with a numerate background who can identify risks and balance these against potential benefits to create real opportunities and bottom line results.
Credit Operations
Credit Operations is critical to the Retail Bank in ensuring that our unsecured and mortgage products are effectively underwritten. Working closely with Sales colleagues within loans, current accounts and mortgages, we are keen to support the decision to lend to customers, both new and old.
Working within the team as an underwriter, you will be expected to meet stretching targets and service levels in order to support the Retail Bank’s challenging lending objectives.
Arrears Management
This area helps to minimize the losses that the business may incur but is not just about collecting money, it's also about considering the needs of our customers, balancing that against business needs and then finding the appropriate solution.
We cover the full arrears cycle for Personal Loans, Mortgages & Current accounts, from customers who have a short term problem and need our help, advice & flexibility through to those where we need to take firmer action to recover our debt.
Roles within Arrears Management are diverse and can range from a dynamic, fast paced Collector role through to a specialised role dealing with external suppliers.

Current Accounts and Savings
Part of the Retail Bank, Current Accounts and Savings is one of our largest business areas, serving over 2 million customers – who, between them, make about 34 million calls to us each year!
Over 900 talented, capable people are on hand to meet their needs at our virtual Contact Centres in Ashford, Leeds, Bootle and Leicester. These leading-edge operations deliver 24-hour customer service and sales expertise via telephone and internet banking channels, and our Customer Sales Advisors are responsible for both customer service and business development.

Mortgage Operations
We have 800 talented and committed customer advisors, managers and specialists in our four business areas and are set to achieve even more in 2008.
- Intermediary Sales and Service, Leicester and Belfast:
- Develops relationships with and serves our Intermediaries and strategic partners, developing profitable new opportunities within specialist mortgage markets.
- Mortgage Customer Operations, Leicester:
- Responsible for the retention of existing customers, the provision of ongoing support and service, and co-ordination with internal customers.
- Mortgage Direct Operations, Wigan:
- Delivers sales support to customers who apply for mortgages via the internet and telephone, and processes branch mortgage applications.
- Valuation Services, Leicester and across the UK:
- Provides a full range of valuation products and services through an in-house team of Valuers.

Personal Finance
Since 1989, Alliance & Leicester Personal Finance Limited (ALPF) has offered unsecured personal loans at extremely competitive rates. Today it employs around 500 people, mostly in sales, and is responsible for the processing and administration of all personal loan applications from Alliance & Leicester customers.
The rewards are fantastic at ALPF, as well as uncapped bonus schemes, there are lots of other incentives for people to work towards.
